What We Run

Six programs. One journey from idea to income.

Every GYEO program plugs into a different stage of a young entrepreneur's path — visibility, skill, capital, and finally, the market.

Flagship Conference

East Africa Youth Conference (EAYC)

Our flagship regional gathering brings together thousands of youth, entrepreneurs, innovators, policymakers and creatives from across East Africa for two days of leadership training, entrepreneurship tracks and policy dialogue.

  • Hosted at Mohamed Shein Hall, State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), Tunguu Campus
  • Keynotes from Zanzibar government leadership and the EAC Secretariat
  • Delegates from Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda
  • Parallel tracks: digital economy, Blue Economy, agribusiness, policy

  • 140+ youth exhibitors across Blue Economy, agribusiness, health, tourism and tech
  • 3,000–5,000 attendees drawn from across the region
  • Hosted at the Zanzibar Exhibition Center

Capital & Competition

From pitch to funded business.

Two programs work in tandem: PERYA gives founders the stage, TUSUA gives the winners — and strong applicants beyond it — the capital to build.

Pitch Platform

PERYA Business Pitch Competition

A structured stage where young founders and innovators present business plans directly to venture panels and impact investors during regional conferences.

  • Problem-solving tracks tied to real regional gaps
  • Panels of investors, impact funders and domain experts
  • Sponsor-backed prize pools
Seed Capital

TUSUA Fund

Direct, non-equity grant funding for high-potential early-stage youth businesses — administered through competitive application cycles.

  • No equity taken from founders
  • Paired with investment-readiness coaching
  • Open cycles announced each conference season
Recognition

Celebrating the Extraordinary Youth

"Kumsherehekea Kijana Tofauti" — our annual awards evening recognizes young changemakers whose work in social enterprise, tech, agriculture and civic leadership is already changing their communities.

  • Held at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), Dar es Salaam
  • Documented success stories shared across GYEO's media channels
  • National and regional recognition tiers

Media & Digital Skills

Visibility is part of the curriculum.

We treat a young person's media presence as seriously as their business plan — because both determine who gets funded, hired and heard.

Broadcast

Regional Radio & Media Tours

Live and recorded segments on regional stations, including Mjini FM 92.5, extending youth economic dialogue to non-attendees.

  • Live public Q&A on policy and opportunity
  • Cross-border trade & financial literacy discussion
Personal Branding

Digital Identity Workshops

Hands-on sessions teaching youth to treat their social profiles as a digital CV that attracts opportunity, not just attention.

  • Online reputation management
  • Portfolio building for remote & global markets
Storytelling

Impact & Testimonial Campaigns

Documenting real, post-conference business growth to inspire the next cohort and demonstrate program impact to partners.

  • Video & written testimonials
  • Published across GYEO's channels
